Direct Speech คือประโยคที่พูดออกมาจากปากของผู้พูดเองโดยตรง

Indirect speech คือประโยคที่นำคำพูดของคนอื่นมาเล่าหรือรายงานให้ฟัง

หลักเกณฑ์ในการเปลี่ยน

Tense                                             Direct Speech                                                  Indirect Speech

Present Simple Tense             She said, “I have dinner.”                             She said that she had dinner.

Present Continuous Tense      She said, “I am having dinner.”                   She said that she was having dinner.

Present Perfect Tense             She said, “I have had dinner.”                     She said that she had had dinner.

Past Simple Tense                  She said, “I had dinner.”                              She said that she had had dinner.
